In this part-time occasional position I develop database & bioinformatics software for use by faculty and graduate students investigating biomarkers using mass spectrometryFrom time to time I also service the laboratory instruments and I.T. systems. I am also the domain administrator. Occasionally I run the LTQ mass specsSoftware is written in VB.net with an MS SQL SERVER back end. The users typically use R with SQL to determine potential biomarkers. my publication list is current with over 15 publications

Working as an electronics technican in a leadership role simlar to that of a foreman (group C) I maintained and improved large scale broadcast facilities.the work involved supporting some of the largest theatrical staging & rigging systems (400+ motors) in the world along with about vinten 20 robotics cameras, about 6000 dimmer sockets.

great gig, I think one of my proudest moments in broadcasting happened while I was working with this firm. I was out with my CBC buds, in a bar with a large number of televisions on. Virtually every station was running graphics systems automated by me. The crawl on newsworld, the sports bug on CBC sports, a music show on chum, the lower third for fox sports, another bug for maple leaf entertainment. what made the work challenging was that the product has to work first time out of the box, because its live and seen by millions of viewersat this time I worked in C++ in an MFC environment. This code I wrote drove Chyron Duets, Codi,Maxine,PCI+,Infinit, Oxtel and a few others. CAL was my favorite engine however a lot of work was simple Intellegent Interface serial control

Working as an electronics technican I supported the National, The Journal, NewsWorld plus several Very Large Production studios.Most of the work was with the CBC's highly computerized and very large (400+ motors) rigging/staging systems located in the 40 series studios. I was in CBC terms a "group C" which while still in the union ranks was a fairly senior position. As part of my duties I worked closely with the corporation's broadcast electricians, machinists, electronic technicians and of course production personnel.I was often "loaned out" to other groups, such engineering for the Y2k project and to corporate counsel as a technical advisor during some legal action.Y2k was interesting and gave me the chance to see a great deal of Canada. I tested at least one of virtually every broadcast product at the CBC

it was the usual community television gig, setting up shows, running camera, working the audio board, switching once in a while. All great fun for a teenager and lets me get away with saying I have over thirty years in broadcasting!
