TechRev is an initiative of Innovate Calgary with a mandate to increase awareness of and investment activity in the technology sector in the Calgary region. As the first Executive Director for TechRev, I was instrumental in establishing a framework to recognize and profile local technology companies, promoting opportunities for investment, collaboration, and innovation. This framework consists of: TechRev Innovators – an annual recognition platform established in 2009 and the best-known of the TechRev activities; TechRev.ca – a website that shares news, feature articles, and success stories about local technology companies, providing a PR hub for the industry; TechRev events – held to shine the spotlight on the milestone achievements of entrepreneurs and to bring the community together and the YYCTECH:Spotlight on Innovation publication - an industry report leveraging TechRev research. In the background of these activities I established the supporting structure for TechRev: TechRev Advisory Council – a diverse group of experts who volunteer their time to drive the initiative in advancing the effectiveness and value to entrepreneurs; Media Relations activities – engaging members of the media in industry activities, seeding story ideas and content, and providing connections to entrepreneurs.
