Consideration of membership is open to any meteorology major or minor who completes 10 GPA counted credits in meteorology, in addition to completing MET-480 (Synoptic Scale Analysis and Forecasting) and have at least a 3.3+ (B+) GPA in their meteorology credits and a 3.3+ (B+) cumulative GPA. Members shall maintain a minimum 3.30 (B+) in meteorology and 3.30 (B+) cumulative GPA to remain active. Chi Epsilon Pi sponsors MET Field Day each spring, where local elementary schools bring 500+ students to Valparaiso University for hands on experiments, demonstrations and videos in meteorology. Additionally, Chi Epsilon Pi provides support in volunteering and outreach regarding meteorology within the local community.

The Northwest Indiana Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) is an organization that promotes the development and dissemination of information and education, as well as the advancement of professional applications in the atmospheric, oceanic, and hydrologic sciences. The Northwest Indiana Student Chapter of the National Weather Association (NWA) is an organization that promotes excellence in operational meteorology and other applications. This chapter of AMS/NWA hosts social events (board game nights, movie nights, etc), professional development speakers and workshops (including the biennial NWS roadshow, which features forecasters from the National Weather Service answering questions and providing advice to aspiring forecasters), and the annual Great Lakes Meteorology Conference (which features speakers across meteorology-related disciplines and applications, as well as an opportunity for members to network with neighboring schools and interested professionals).
