Area manager responsible for delivering highways projects for clients within the Yorkshire and Humberside Region. My role also extended to developing Waterman Aspen as the leading supplier of technical and professional civil engineering staff to clients in all engineering sectors.As an Area Manager I worked with clients to provide them with specialist civil engineering staff on short and long term secondments to help with peaks in their workload.

As a freelance consultant I have worked with numerous Local Authorities, Consultants and Architects across a broad variety of infrastructure works including; flood alleviation, highways design, highway safety and traffic management schemes, controlled parking zones, 20 mph zones, pedestrian and cycle safety schemes, traffic and environmental impact assessments for wind farm developments, car park feasibility studies and London bus route designs.As well as the standard civil engineering design and construction activities, many of the aforementioned highways related projects have required me to plan and co-ordinate extensive consultations with affected users e.g. the general public, local residents, schools, emergency services, private businesses, councillors and statutory undertakers.

Following on from my debut album "focal point" I raised funds by crowd funding and took a sabbatical from civil engineering and created my second album. I build a recording studio, set up a record label then wrote and recorded my second album "p'dice" As part of this amazing time I was joined by world famous drummers Gavin Harrison and Marco Minnemann.

Responsible for updating the Quality Assurance / Health and Safety systems for the council's Intranet together with programming and monitoring the highway maintenance works.

During my ten years with Leeds City Council I worked in several departments; Highways Design, Bridges and Structures, Highways Maintenance and Traffic Engineering. I gained significant experience across a broad range of civil engineering activities e.g.- preliminary and detailed designs for highways and structures projects,- safety audits,- traffic management and signalisation projects,- guided bus routes,- contract document preparation., (MMHW, DMRB)- Section 38 and Section 278 developments,- site supervision as resident engineer,- budgetary control,- public consultations,- project and team management.

Responsible for supervising, monitoring and programming numerous contractors from varying disciplines on the £3.7 million bridge refurbishment / highways improvement scheme in Rochdale Town Centre.The project required the strengthening of 6 bridges constructed immediately adjacent to one another to form one continuous 452.5m wide structure. Three of the bridges were to have in-situ cast RC decks laid over their existing decks. Two of the bridges were to be demolished and rebuilt and one bridge was to have a RC deck cast on top of its existing iron sub structure.Duties consisted of feasibility, programming of works, method statement production, piling and temporary works coordinator, access controller and measurement engineer for concrete repairs.

Involved in the major review of design standards for roundabout design. This project required the collation and analyse of traffic and accident data from all the UK local authorities, and site investigations to survey and identify design flaws. My work was then incorporated into a report for the Department of Transport and eventually used to produce design guide TD16/93.Involved in the production of the Order Public Report (Including Environmental Assessment Framework) for the A6120 Leeds Outer Ring Road proposals.
