About Paul D'Ambrosio
I have been the President of the Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers’ Museum since April 2011. Prior to that time I was Vice President and Chief Curator. It is also my good fortune to serve as Adjunct Professor of American Art and American Folk Art in the Cooperstown Graduate Program, at the State University of New York College at Oneonta. My publications include numerous articles and several books on American folk art including Ralph Fasanella’s America and Folk Art's Many Faces. My exhibitions and catalogues on American art include Ralph Fasanella’s America (2001), Winslow Homer: Masterworks from the Adirondacks (2004), A Deaf Artist in Early America: The Worlds of John Brewster, Jr. (2005), Grandma Moses: Grandmother to the Nation (2006), America’s Rome: Artists in the Eternal City, 1800-1900 (2009), John Singer Sargent: Portraits in Praise of Women (winner of the Victorian Society in America’s William Fischelis Award, 2010), and A Window into Edward Hopper (2011). I have recently been appointed to the New York State Regent’s Advisory Council on Museums. My bachelor’s degree in English is from the State University of New York College at Cortland, 1981 (where I won the College’s Award for Excellence in Art History); my master’s degree in Museum Studies is from the Cooperstown Graduate Program,1983, and my doctorate in American and New England Studies is from Boston University, MA, 2001.Specialties: Exhibitions, American art, publications
