My role sits within Group Risk and is focused on providing compliance advice to the Australian division. I advise and oversee stakeholder use of IAG’s compliance systems, including accuracy and completeness of obligations, incorporating current and emerging regulatory and legislative requirements as well as influencing first and second line stakeholders in the articulation and consideration of compliance risk in a way that influences business decisions. Through the Business Risk Advisory Partners, I provide technical compliance advice to the front line and upstream to business and executive leaders.I also provide advice on, and support of IAG’s submissions to regulatory change and manage incidents, errors and breach management processes, including regulatory engagement with ASIC.I participate collaboratively in cross group / program risk forums and initiatives to ensure alignment and develop and share best practice.

I am part of a team of compliance experts that supports the efficient and effective management of risk and compliance requirements in Group Risk supporting the Australian Customer facing business units.I assist the Senior Compliance Manager to design, oversee and provide assurance regarding Australian compliance programs and ensure they align to the IAG Risk Management Strategy.This role is a visible advocate for driving simplification and clarity of the compliance framework elements within divisions in a manner that is commercial and sustainable.A critical success factor for the role is my ability to engage broadly and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders within IAG to influence a practical understanding of compliance.

The purpose of the Risk & Compliance Specialist is to provide risk and compliance services including the provision of advice to Wesfarmers Insurance, Australian Underwriting, for the brands Lumley Insurance, Lumley Finance, Lumley Special Vehicles, Lumley Retail Warranty, and WFI as well as affinity partners, Coles Insurance and Kmart Tyre & Auto Car Insurance.

Managed a team of 10 staff nationally, offering specialist motor insurance products to retail clients via the insurance broker market.

A founding director of this business as a specialist motor underwriting agency for Lumley General Insurance Limited, the company was purchased by Lumley and I became responsible for their NSW State operations in April 2000.In November 2007, Torque merged with Prestige Car Insurance Pty Ltd and Vigil Underwriting Agency Pty Ltd to form Lumley Special Vehicles.
