• Project: Improving the Classification of Neural Networks for High‑Dimensional Spectroscopy Data using Data Synthesis Techniques.• Developed and tested machine learning data synthesis models including Generative Adversarial Networks and Diffusion Models, coded using Keras, Tensorflow and PyTorch respectively.• Developed a data synthesis augmentation model with improved accuracy compared to previous PhD results for an SVM classification model, up 0.57% to 95.93% and reduced standard error down 1.01% to 1.58%.• Currently co‑authoring a paper on the topic of data synthesis in Raman Spectroscopy with a PhD student, provisional plans to submit for the AICS (Irish conference on Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science) in December.

• Project: Novel Blink Detection and Analysis for Neuromorphic (Event) Cameras.• Designed and implemented a novel blink detection algorithm which detected blinks with an average accuracy of 82%.• Further developed this algorithm to detect and return the length of the closing, closed and opening sequences of a blink, which can subsequently be applied to drowsiness, sleepiness or fatigue studies.

• Work Placement as part of the Professional Experience Programme in Information Technology (NUIG).• Conducted drowsiness acquisitions, which involved rigging of sensors to a subject, explaining experiments in a non‑technical manner, and running these experiments both individually and as part of a team, to aid database growth.• Annotated blinking imagery data for training and testing blink detection network.• Trialed, tuned and evaluated the optimal combination of morphological operations and filters using OpenCV to improve chessboard stereo calibration images for data acquisitions.• Developed a corner extension algorithm from these improved images to capture missing stereo points and improve calibration accuracy.• Ported MARA (Multiple Artifact Rejection Algorithm, which automated the process of hand‑labelling independent components for artifact rejection in sensors) from MATLAB to python, to be used as part of the teams Python pipeline.• Completed various small tasks to aid acquisitions:– Developed a program to calculate real‑time Sp02 signals within the acquisition system.– Collected and summarised mind‑wandering research papers for future use.– Debugged critical Bluetooth issues between drowsiness acquisition software and sensors under tight time schedules.
