About Pea Hamilton

Since I began my career, my passion for helping, teaching, and uplifting others has shined through each of my roles. My professional career began in 2015 at AmeriTitle, a title and escrow company in Salem, Oregon, serving 5 counties I collaborated with title and escrow officers, title companies, county recorders, and homeowners to ensure the deeds securing their real estate transactions were executed properly and recorded within the necessary time for homebuyers to obtain keys to their new homes! In 2018 I relocated to Portland, Oregon, and began working for Advantis Credit Union as a teller with the objective to move into Real Estate in order to assist our members in the areas I was most familiar with. In 2021 I was promoted to a Home Equity Lending Specialist in Real Estate, the essential function of that role was to encourage our members to leverage the equity in their homes, (thereby improving their financial lives by processing home equity loans for consumer-related purposes, i.e., home improvements, debt consolidation, and investing in a second home, among other uses. Educating existing and potential members about credit decisions, which loan product would suit them best, and how variable lines of credit function were the most rewarding aspects of the role for me. Simultaneously in June 2022 I was elected to serve on Advantis' first employee-led Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Council. The role of its council members was to bring their diverse experiences and perspectives to the table to collaborate with the Executive Leadership Team to incorporate DEI principles into the company's strategic business plan, this has been the most fulfilling work I've contributed to in my career so far. My passion and interest in DEI is what led to my election as the first employee to serve as Co-Lead of the council from June 2022 - June 2023. The skills and knowledge I gained while serving as co-lead with the AVP of DEI (whom I previously participated in interviewing and selecting for the role), VP of Marketing, and Real Estate Operations Manager to guide the council gave me firsthand experience with strategic leadership, oversight to organize and facilitate internal events and company-wide educational opportunities, as well as the ability to bridge gaps between employees, managers, and foster cross-departmental collaboration. My work in DEI has led to my transition from my roles at Advantis to further my education in Human Resources Management at Portland State University and pursuit of HR roles that encourage and support DEI across their organization

Portland, Oregon, United States

For two years I processed Home Equity Line of Credit applications, sometimes initiating the process at origination, always to funding, as well as maintenance. This role entailed ordering title reports as well as clearing them, flood certificates, property profiles, insurance binders and appraisals from various external vendors. I worked directly with applicants (members and potential members) via email and over the phone to collect their income documentation, submit it to underwriting for income approval, and provide them with updates while I ordered and received the necessary reports to move their transactions to closing. Another aspect of the role included communicating when borrowers were not approved for the loan, after delivering these declines for two years for various reasons I became adept at doing so as well as pointing borrowers to other avenues they could use to obtain the funds needed. I worked with a team of 2 other processors, 2 maintenance members, and my supervisor. Loan maintenance composed of servicing HELOCs that were approaching their 10 or 15 year draw period, I would mail a letter detailing that their draw period was coming to an end and execute three calls/emails asking if they had any questions about how to make their remaining payments.
