• My passion: I’m a helper. I like to help others succeed and see them flourish.• My talent: I'm great at identifying opportunities and connecting those opportunities with real needs. • My work: I serve as Metro Nashville’s (first-ever!) Digital Inclusion Officer and ours is the first digital inclusion office in the state of Tennessee. Inclusion ensures that opportunities are available to people who might otherwise be excluded – and historically have been. *Digital* inclusion is the supporting work to ensure that everyone has equitable access to resources that help us to thrive in this digital world. It is impossible to participate in modern society without high-quality internet access, suitable computing devices, and the knowledge to use them successfully. We take classes online. We visit doctors online. We enjoy face-to-face moments with loved ones who live far away.Unequal access to the benefits of technology can cause negative outcomes for our neighbors. The goal of our digital inclusion work is to break down barriers that prevent people from reaching their full potential and having the quality of life that we all deserve. What you can do: 1) Learn more about digital inclusion. 2) Stay connected. Do you know a local organization that is doing good work in this area and wants to do more? Let me know. Would you like to learn how your organization can be more inclusive with technology services? Please reach out to me. Are you interested in joining Nashville’s journey toward digital equity? Let’s talk. DIO@nashville.gov
