Much of Pearl's work takes inspiration from humour, literature, history, and behavioural observations. She loves to play around with visual wit and exploring the best narrative possible through problem-solving. Her main body of work is editorial illustration, but she also enjoys working on her own zines whenever she has the time. Her client includes South China Morning Post, Google, Anorak magazine, CNBC, etc.

As a visualiser, it required me to think fast and draw fast, especially for live scribing/visual recording. The nature of the job allowed me to hone my skills in visual thinking, storyboarding, problem solving, and project management.

I was responsible for cataloguing physical and digital entries for the Professional Awards; liaising with entrants on issues; assisting jurors during judging and the festival.This job helped to develop my skills in event production and project coordination, as well as how to work better as a team player.

My role as a graphics editor required me to coordinate daily graphics (maps and charts) with reporters and editors; analysing and consolidating data; assigning jobs to the in-house artists/designers and making sure work flow runs smoothly; liaising with other departments; making sure the art director was kept up to date; attending daily noon meetings; managing SCMP Graphics' twitter.It honed my project coordination skills within the graphics team and cross-functional group work in a fast-paced environment. I was also responsible for proof reading and double checking on the data before I passed the graphics along to the copy editors, as the graphics needed to follow the house style - this skillset is invaluable because it made me realise how important consistency and quality is in design, and had since played a big part in my work ethics.
