I help people sift through their thoughts and emotions, order their thinking and unearth buried or hidden meaning that becomes pivotal for strategic clarity.Strategic listening is all about being wholly connected to whomever I'm engaged with -- whether in English or in Spanish. Being an ex-lawyer means no stone goes unturned in any conversation. Having an MBA means all these talks can zero in quickly to actionable takeaways. Being obsessed with the human condition means I love talking to people of all walks of life -- whether individual consumers of big brands, specific target groups for non-profits or internal, C-suite interviews at Fortune 500 companies.Aside from working with major retailers and consumer-focused brands, I'm especially drawn to projects in healthcare, eldercare, motherhood and family issues.In fact, I have quite a few types of dream days:Digging through someone's medicine cabinet and refrigerator as we piece together their approach to health.Going in depth with Latino moms about how they select and buy toilet paper and why it's actually a very emotional purchase.Having candid conversations with African American friends about social justice and the many ways brands continue to ignore the Black community (even today).Spending an afternoon with some teens as we explore love, life and search for identity.Hanging out with a group of new moms, listening to their anxieties, concerns and joys.Exploring creative ideas with anyone as we dig through reactions and motivations.Talking with key company leaders and piecing together where projects are roadblocked or have lost momentum.Picking the brains of industry leaders or key influencers to understand how a brand should best be positioned in the marketplace.In essence, strategic listening is all about being authentic and present regardless of the situation.
