Graphic Designer
Graphic Designer
SunWest Sportswear houses the largest collection of licensed WSU apparel in the Tri-Cities, an exciting environment to contribute to as a WSU alumni and passionate designer. At SunWest I create fresh new WSU apparel designs, which are licensed, then printed by SunWest and placed in our store. I also create new apparel designs for the elementary and secondary schools of the Tri-Cities, as well as prominent companies and non-profits in the area. I work on a daily basis with individuals searching for unique designs and representatives of large companies seeking impeccable service and quality. Each day I contribute to my community through my designs and work at SunWest Sportswear.
Peer Mentor
Through academic and workplace-related advice, strategic meetings and events, and a network of support, Peer Mentors guide freshmen and sophomore WSU Tri-Cities students into valuable experiences on campus and in the workplace. As a mentor I provide my mentees with valuable connections and resources, so that they can make the choices necessary to shape their academic and work success.
Marketing Coordinator
The WSU Tri-Cities Student Entertainment Board (SEB) plans and hosts various events for the student body throughout the school year, as a means of bringing the campus together, encouraging a healthy lifestyle, and promoting safe and fun activities for students of all ages and interests. As the Marketing Coordinator, I work with the SEB team to plan the best events possible, and create the marketing materials (posters, postcard-fliers, etc.) for event advertising.
Rhetoric & Professional Writing Student (Major)
As a Rhetoric & Professional Writing student at WSU Tri-Cities, I study rhetorical and professional writing techniques that are key to successful marketing and communication. My time in class and outside of it is dedicated to fine-tuning my writing and editing skills. My goal is to continually produce the most effective communication possible and I carefully survey my own written products as well as classmates' to ensure that goal is achieved. I believe that a writer should always be sharpening their skills and learning new techniques, and as a student, I am seeking all the knowledge I can.
Graphic Designer
As a graphic designer at WSU Tri-Cities, I work with coworkers and clients alike to gain information and collaborate on projects, which I then transform into a visual and tangible design. Here I create promotional materials for the STEM Peer Mentoring Program on campus, and STEM on the Brain, using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. These materials include postcards, flyers, digital displays, posters, business cards, and event summaries. I work hard to utilize the most effective advertising techniques in each individual work. Each project I complete is eye-catching, well-branded, targeted, and memorable, thanks not only to diligence, but also to the great influences I've partnered with here at WSU Tri-Cities.
Graphic And Multimedia Design Student (Minor)
Within this minor, I focus on adding to my experience and knowledge in print work as well as learning as much as possible about web and interface design. Because I have spent the majority of my employment in marketing, I am interested in the marketing aspect of design, and learn about new techniques with their marketing benefits in mind.
Copyeditor
Daughters of Hanford brings the stories of amazing women of Hanford to light for all of the community to hear about. I started at Daugthers of Hanford as a designer working on a poster advertisement, but my focus then shifted to editing copy on advertisements, writing press releases, and concluding the project with an article summarizing the grand opening event, Reactor Factor Kids' Day. During the press release writing process, I was able to conduct Skype- and Google Docs-based editing sessions with the lead editor of the Daughters of Hanford project, Phyllis Fletcher of Northwest News Network, as well as my supervisor, Anna King of Northwest Public Radio. Additionally, I maintained organized and confidential records and collected information for the Daughters' database.
Courtesty Clerk
As a courtesty clerk at Yoke's, my focus was to create the best possible experience for each customer who visited us. I handled groceries, maintained the parking lot's safety and cleanliness while retrieving carts, and maintained a clean and friendly environment inside the store as well. While it was just a job in a grocery store, I learned a great deal about working with people and understanding an employee-customer relationship while there.
Office Assistant
This was a volunteered position in which I dealt with some paperwork around the office. I created Excel documents, sorted through files, and sent out the monthly newsletters for Ignite Youth Mentoring.
