About Pearse Buchanan
I am passionate about learning and applying my skills to important environmental problems. I am creative, practical and supportive in my approach to problem-solving.I am responsible for analysing and interpreting laboratory, field and climate model datasets, undertaking numerical experiments using global ocean models, developing these models by integrating new and improved processes, collaborating with an international network of experts in ocean sciences, publishing scientific articles, and communicating results at international conferences. I use a range of tools to achieve these goals: microsoft office tools, latex, linux environments, python, fortran, bash scripting and R (for statistics) to process, analyse, generate, curate and visualise data. I have strong scientific writing skills and enjoy communicating and public speaking, whether to senior scientists at international conferences or to children at a local school.
