Design Researcher
San Jose, Ca, Us
I designed, implemented, and analyzed qualitative research on user practices and trends for the Photoshop product team. Engaging in both discovery and user experience research, my research insights figured prominently in Photoshop priorities, development, and new product initiatives. Additionally, as Adobe shifted from big box software release development models to a subscription model requiring a leaner approach, I helped lead the development of user-centered design processes and iterative feedback loops that now ground Photoshop product development. My ethnographic and, more broadly, qualitative research skills were essential to not just producing user insights and providing channels for feedback, but also in building and maintaining relationships to users who partnered significantly in development and impacting the product. Overall, my work contributed significantly to 4 major releases, as well as the experimental product, "Photoshop Design Space", in which I led research, contributed to user-centered design processes and feedback loops, and, ultimately, impacted product strategy. In brief, I: Advocated a user-centered design process grounded in qualitative research that integrated user feedback throughout the development process. Worked closely with designers, product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and act on qualitative research. Contributed to product strategy and feature prioritization. Conveyed research results and insights in a clear, engaging manner to influence product and design decisions. Implemented and conducted research within established timelines and budgets. Built empathy and understanding of users throughout the product team.
