About Pedro Lorenti

I am an experienced lawyer admitted in European Continental law and Common law jurisdictions (my own country and the UK as a qualified solicitor -N.P.-). I also worked in the US and in African countries -as foreign counsel- and in international arbitration.Throughout my career I focused on legal relations with Government authorities and in bridging the gap between different legal cultures. This is what I do now, and what I plan to keep doing in the years to come.Sometimes both fields meet, such as when I worked as a legal consultant in Africa (Equatorial Guinea, 2013 to 2015 and maybe again) or in my current activity as counsel to foreign State contractors (Chinese companies in Argentina) and European reinsurers dealing with public works companies in LATAM countries.Some other times I dwell in purely private international waters (for example, as ICC arbitration counsel in a dispute related to offshore oil & gas EPCs in the Libyan basin, 2014 to 2015) or in business & government relations in Argentina. But the eagerness to meet other cultures, learn how they deal with the State power and work with them is always there.Such a legal practice usually develops in big law firms. My fate was different, and I ended up travelling this road solo. Of course, I worked for them sometimes, usually as an off counsel. As such, nowadays I treasure my relationship with Abeledo Gottheil, one of the most relevant and internationally driven Argentine law firms.So, my professional aim is to blend these three passions of mine: the Law, the State activity, and the exploration of the multicultural world. Currently based in my motherland Argentina after living a while in Spain, the US And the UK, I am always willing to engage in internationally linked projects (new ones may be coming soon). I also “travel” through my academic activity on domestic and international legal matters. And with my other writings as well, but that’s another story.
