About Pedro Castaño

I am an Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), where I lead the Multiscale Reaction Engineering (MuRE) group. I have over 24 years of research experience in catalyst design, testing, characterization, reaction modeling, reactor design, and process development for various environmental and waste-valorization processes. My mission is to engineer catalytic reactions that transform small- or big-molecules into valuable products such as hydrogen, light olefins, platform chemicals, or high-quality fuels. I use a systematic multiscale approach integrating advanced reactors and catalysts with process dynamics simulation.
