About Pedro Rios

►►► pedro.rios.o@gmail.com ◄◄◄Data analysis and today’s Business Intelligence & Data Science tools have had an important evolution and sophistication thus highly specialized skills are required. But at a higher pace, organizations are in the need to evolve and reinvent themselves very fast within a frame of tools, metrics, KPIs and dashboards that take time to develop and lose significance quickly, which that in hands of highly technical people lack the business knowledge and the overarching skills to link needs End-to-End. To this, the reliance and dependence on specific tools are typical pitfalls that paralyze and limit enterprises. I address this problem by combining methods, systems and procedures developed to accomplish scalability, performance, customer centric focus and uninterrupted deliverables wrapped with a tool agnostic approach. I design, organize and lead the team's active and agile engagement with stake holders as well as internal and external users, minimizing development time and increasing quality. I enjoy delivering experience, architecture and performance... by design!Remember: transformation is not about technology, it is about people. Technoogy is at service, it is just a tool not the goal. Data Scientist For Service Logistics Global - Central Data Office

Current

San Jose, Ca, Us

The need for Design for Business Intelligence has been pressing more as a way to prepare for robust intelligence, it is foundational. As various steps were previously taken, now all that effort is been channeled to support the build of a new Data FoundationData modeling for various functional areas but more importantly for SOTP, the main business KPI for the organization, will be part of my responsibilities. But my proposal takes it one step further, I believe the practice of Design for Business Intelligence should be a function and the need is more clear nowadays with many organizations suffering to manage the growth of intelligence in the presence of AI. How a new Data Foundation needs to look like to support high level of data quality, hi resolution information that allow to answer any operational question, how the data also includes the management of customer experience and how data has been intentionally prepared to allow highly efficient AI engines (Gen AI, LLMs, and more) that's part of the challenge. Very exciting, fun and challenging. And we are getting good results already, very foundational. Hint: technology is key obviously, but more important are the people!

Data Scientist For Service Logistics Global

San Jose, Ca, Us

In Service Logistics we have a main KPI called SOTP (Service On Time Performance). My role has been to support the intelligence for this metric. With a team of a Data Scientist and Process Mining expert we have been developing a solid strategy and prototypes that are now in operation and deployed.A metric is useless or very limited if the processes around it are not designed to mobilize and organize the entire organization (~300 people in our case). 90% or more of our data is originated via our vendors systems (third parties) world wide and that is quite a challenge. Multiple functions and teams perform different processes and data quality, data completeness, data consistency are daily problems, you can image. The senior leader SOTP owner one day made a simple request: Pedro, help me to operationalize SOTP. And that was it. Now we are implementing a process that allows control from a single metric down three levels by function by country. It has been fun but now the next step: Data Foundation. Hint: technologies and tools are awesome, but the key is always the people!

I guess when you engage with passion you get to receive the rare opportunity to use one of your core hidden abilities, in my case Engineering or more precisely Enterprise Engineering. Currently I have been presented with the need to solve for various topics that are normally addressed separately due to their already specialized nature, but when they get too far apart with chaotic infrastructure the only way to change is to join them back again and evolve. What about solving for customer experience, process optimization, business intelligence, automation and people development all at once, integrated? I call it: Customer Centric Engineering!Leading Intelligence, Automation and Engineering for Order Management & Logistics Operations at the America Theater. The unit is a customer front-facing organization where service delivery and customer satisfaction are the core. The complexity driven by multi-vendor support and multi-legacy systems creates a constant challenge even more so when there is the need to automate and digitize. Intelligence Control then becomes crucial to solve for this problem making the development of Robust Strategies a must! KPIs, metrics, automation and more importantly solve for delivery and measure Customer Satisfaction are my main objectives.

Estanzas.Com

Sr. Business Analyst and Product Manager for Estanzas.com. The combination of fresh business perspectives, requirement definition aligned with business strategy and virtual teams can be considered as the ultimate challenge for a new development. A multiple-front pilot was invaluable and the results confirmed my conceptual basis (communications) and brought details into light. One example is the incorporation of agile principles to the project management practice. Agile practice does not mean to follow fixed and structured procedures, using specific tools and artifacts. The value of Agile is its focus on practices that improve communications within the team; the trick is in the art of how to adjust it to the organization. Organizations are all different, with their own mission, vision, goals, style, personality and values; therefore, there is no a one size that fits all.Estanzas.com is a portal in development oriented to promote small and medium size hotels in Latin America. Industrial Engineer - Business Analysis

New York, Ny, Us

I have always been very involved with enterprise structures and communication processes as I consider them vital for any organization, especially large ones like American Express. In one of my last assignments I had the opportunity to test my approach; the project was really large across several business units. We were dealing with the implementation of an entire new business venture, currently publicized as Social Currency. My core and pivotal strategy to success, while performing the requirements gathering, was to concentrate in the facilitation and enhancement of the communication process across all different operation groups to exchange and level information as well as education in the processes and the identification of the needs between and among all these groups, which were never needed before. The results were not only timely deliverables but quality ones. I am not only a believer and enthusiast but a lead practitioner in establishing enhanced communication practices and processes. I heavily apply that when performing business analysis. Scenarios, circumstances, needs and objectives change all the time and we need to change and adjust accordingly and fast. Structured/fixed procedures don’t hold for long and the ability to lead under this uncertainty comes with experience. Complex challenges feel like huge unavoidable magnets to me.Roles performed include Business Analysis, Project Management and Reengineering. Business units include disputes, online disputes, MR (Membership Rewards), CoBrand, email servicing. Lead business requirements for Pay With Points (PWP - Amex Social Currency) - Amazon. Designed systems framework for the business infrastructure of ROADs – PEGA. SQL, Black Belt Six Sigma trained. Reporting analysis and design, process flows, process analysis.

Doing whole selling when you have been in the trenches is a lot of fun. Systems integrators, resellers, VARs come to you for technology but I used to give them more! I built the supply chain and developed my country having a strong communication with the channel (clients). Information and training were important but also correlation to real live cases were key to my success. I recall once being contacted by a reseller and he asked me to visit his client with an old installation of Novell 3.2 (green screen, DOS look and feel) after walking with them around the plant my recommendation was they should stay in 3.2 until an upgrade in the core application were made, I didn’t even try to move them to 4.1. The user probably was not satisfied and hired Arthur Andersen for a 2-month consultancy and thousands of dollars. Time later the reseller came to me and told me: you were right! In the summary page, on top of the dozens of pages, they also recommended to stay in 3.2 until a new system implementation. Because of giving them the extra my clients trusted me and rely on my advice.Roles included market and business development for assigned brands, accountable for market penetration, market development, inventory management, sales forecasting and buying. Managed products strategies, business plans, business analysis for data analysis and reports, roadmap planning and deployment. Distribution channel marketing planning and development. Being in the customer shoes and understanding their needs is something I excel and I had the pleasure to build strong and fast relationships with my clients while working with IBM. Offering Mid Sized servers plus applications was really a challenge back in my country for being a region with short budgets. We were facing the transition of closed networks like S34, S36 and AS/400 towards client server models with LAN/WAN based on Novell and Microsoft NT. You must sell but also add value to your clients specially when they have legacy systems that certainly took time, money and lots of effort to build. Building migration projects was daring. It was a lot of fun!Systems Consultant/Business Analyst: Responsible for system-consulting management. Meeting with clients, doing business analysts and requirements definitions for MRP/ERP Development and implementations. Prepared comparative business cases and cost/benefit analysis. Managed accounts and developed implementation strategies and projects. Solutions were based on LAN and Client-Server architectures. Reengineering in system business processes.
