Hi! I'm Petra. I'm here to cut through the complexity that stands between us and living better lives. Usually, I do that with software. Sometimes, I do that by listening and talking."Why are we building this? Who will it help, and how?" If you can't answer that, you could easily be wasting a lot of effort building the wrong thing. My superpower is compassionately holding my teams accountable to answering those questions. If that's something you'd like on your team, maybe we should work together!Tech-wise, I'm comfortable across the stack, but I'm happiest driving work from the frontend—the part the customer touches. Often that's a web page or a mobile app; sometimes it's an API. Whatever it is, the most important thing is that the customer has a fantastic experience that's in line with what they actually need. Everything behind that should serve that experience.As a consultant at Pivotal Labs for 3 years, and an engineer at CircleCI for 6.5 years, I've exercised that pattern again and again. As a Staff Engineer at CircleCI, I learned how to help a whole team do that. When things seem complex, we pause, reflect, and come back to the value. Then we find something small and valuable we can ship fast, learn from it, and iterate.I believe that human communication, not code, is the most important part of a tech organization's success. I believe in regular retrospectives, in blameless accountability, and in planning out work just enough to iterate safely and efficiently. If you do too, I'd love to chat.
