As a motivated and capable Legal Assistant, I have competently worked for about 5 years in a law firm in Pakistan. I have a ‘Law’ degree from Karachi University, Karachi Pakistan. Currently I am a part-time student at the Karachi University for Master Degree (Political Science) and work as a full-time Paralegal at Vellani & Vellani firm in Karachi Pakistan. My main duties in this firm for clients and associates in this firm are: dealing with clients regarding non-legal matters and procedures of work regarding Trade Mark, Copyright, preparing search report for clients in respect of proposed new products, market searches for products, and drafting grounds of appeal and reconsideration letters, and monitoring case progressions. I also compile court bundles and accompany barristers and solicitors in court hearings. I have also worked on several Intellectual Property matters cases at this firm besides my administrative duties. The experience of the past 5 years has given me an extensive insight into Pakistan legal system and court procedures. As a paralegal I have developed a wide range of transferable skills including: an understanding of practical legal issues, excellent client and case management, a demonstrated ability for interdisciplinary research and practice, and proven negotiation and mediation skills. I speak Wakhi as my native language and am familiar with Urdu and English as well. I believe that these language skills would benefit me when dealing with clients. Through my extracurricular activities, I have strengthened my interpersonal and communication skills and developed my abilities to interact with people from a breadth of cultural, ethnic and professional backgrounds.
