Peg McLaughlin is an experienced Independent Director, SEC Financial Expert and accomplished financial services executive with a unique combination of experience and key strategic leadership roles encompassing regulatory, operating, legal, and compliance functions. Peg has a proven track record of success developing governance, operating and compliance frameworks for firms in complex and highly regulated environments. She has a deep understanding and perspective on governance, oversight, regulation, policies and procedures from her early experience with both the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Department of Justice. Peg currently serves as an Independent Director for the State Street Global Advisors Mutual Funds (SSGA)where she sits on the Audit, Valuation, Qualified Legal & Compliance and Nominating/Governance Committees. Previously, Peg was a founding member of the executive management team for Kramer Van Kirk Credit Strategies L.P. (a registered investment adviser) and its technology affiliate Mariana Systems LLC where she was integrally involved in the development and implementation of their strategic vision. As Managing Director, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer to both companies Peg had frequent interaction with the firms’ boards providing her with significant, hands-on governance expertise. She was also responsible for the broad operational oversight of both firms. Peg was instrumental in building these businesses from initiation to $4.1 billion in AUM in three years for KVK, and a substantial industry market share for Mariana. She developed the legal, compliance and operational functions for the firms' nine collateralized loan obligation funds, one credit opportunity hedge fund and a SaaS technology platform. Peg's efforts culminated in the successful sale of both companies to industry competitors.Prior to Kramer Van Kirk, Peg was Assistant General Counsel to Harris Associates L.P. As a senior leader, she was responsible for legal, regulatory and compliance activities during a period of exponential growth where the firm increased AUM more than 10 fold to over $80 billion. Peg created and developed regulatory and compliance frameworks serving the Oakmark Funds and their Independent Board of Trustees.Peg began her career as an attorney for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
