Worked on experiments to determine neural mechanisms of non-associative learning in the olfactory system of Honeybees (Apis Mellifera). Honeybees (Apis Mellifera) were harnessed on a custom-built stage with head capsule open allowing access to antennal lobes. A Neuronexus probe was inserted into the antenna lobe in which the neural activity was acquired with a Tucker-Davis Technology system. Once the neural activities were stable, 4 different stimuli: Control (filter paper), Hexanol, Octanone and Mix were delivered to the bee. Experiment conclusions showed honeybees exhibit effects of latent inhibition on olfactory responses in antennal lobe neurons.
