I am the President, Publisher, and Co-Owner of the world–renowned Montreal-based graphic novel publishing house Drawn & Quarterly, as well as the overseeing director of D+Q's Mile End bookshop. D+Q offers the world's most gifted cartoonists such as Lynda Barry, Adrian Tomine, Kate Beaton and more an alternative to multi-national conglomerate publishing. For 35 years, we have been at the forefront of the graphic novel art form, a category we helped to usher in with our firm belief that comics are literature. With an amazing staff, we publish about 25 graphic novels a year as well operate one of Canada's leading independent bookstores, selling and promoting our own cartoonists and authors published by our friends. We have hosted events with Neil Gaiman, Margaret Atwood, Gloria Steinem, Zadie Smith and more.
