★ Peggy Brookins is a well respected education leader with 42+ years of comprehensive experience in developing, planning, managing, organizing, and implementing education programs and providing leadership to knowledge focused initiatives. As a Director at EMIT, she provides leadership and direction for the overall administration and coordination of STEM programs in support of effective instructional practices, communications, and operational efficiency. Selected to serve as a Member of the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for African Americans to generate advanced solutions for systemic and situational problems with the goal of improving educational standards across the country.★ Ms. Brookins has contributed immensely in the education sector through an in-depth understanding of STEM principles & Common Core Education methodology, and has chaired several education conferences. Ms. Brookins has trained and developed staff to facilitate common core standards education for K-12 students. During her tenure, Ms. Brookins has promoted effective instructional practices and communication that supports high-levels of instruction through the use of research-based data driven best practices, effective classroom consultation, and program evaluation. She is a leader in facilitating teacher training & development nationally in alignment with common core standards.★ Ms. Brookins served as pilot trainer at the ER&D thinking Mathematics Middle School in LA, CA ,and as a National Trainer for American Federation of Teachers Thinking Mathematics Common Core K-2, 3-5, 6-8. She served on the Board of Directors for the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards, inBloom, PARCC Content Technical Working Group, and CAEP. Ms. Brookins is an astute presenter and was recently the keynote speaker at Phi Delta Kappa's 2011 conference. She has also been an AFT reviewer for the Gates secondary "formative assessment" materials and PARCC's Math content frameworks.
