I convened meetings between business leaders and school officials to help develop school curricula that would train students for the business world. Participants met to discuss what training was needed and how to fit it into the school schedule, and to help find funding for the school program.I managed a 3-year, $1 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce. In addition I managed several grants involving start-up funds for school businesses, approving and tracking expenditures.I also developed and implemented a marketing plan for the School-to-Work Program to make community leaders in Northeast Louisiana aware of the program and its potential.I made numerous television appearances and spoke at local civic groups to promote special events such as Job Shadowing Day and the annual Career Fair at University of Louisiana at Monroe.I wrote a monthly newsletter on business issues, and wrote articles and columns for various Chamber and newspaper publications.For four years I coordinated a four-day College and Career Fair for the high schools of thirteen school systems in Northeast Louisiana. Businesses and college recruiters gathered to offer students information on various career and educational opportunities. We also offered skits on job topics such as "Dressing for Success"​ and "No Job is Too Small."For four years I planned an annual Accent on Excellence Breakfast for 300 teachers and business leaders, to highlight teacher achievements and honor outstanding teachers in the region.
