The Grand Naniloa Hotel and Golf Club will reopen as the newly-rebranded DoubleTree by Hilton as part of a restoration of the iconic hotel on the Island of Hawaii.The new DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, which will continue to be managed by Aqua Hospitality, will include 388 rooms, conference and meetings facilities, an entertainment venue called “Willie K’s @ The Crown Room” and a still-to-be-named farm-to-table national chain restaurant. Formerly the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort, the hotel is located on 72 acres with a 9-hole golf course and hotel buildings overlooking Hilo Bay on the Hamakua Coast of the Big Island.Under the new brand, the hotel will include a museum art theme. I managed a team consisting of 4 Sales Managers and 4 Catering Managers and managed 18,000 sq ft of meeting/event space. I provided on-going training courses to sales and catering managers to help perfect sales and closing techniques, and created new department processes to help insure the highest level of customer service for our clients.

Director of Sales for a new Prototype Holiday Inn and KCI Expo Center at the Kansas City International Airport. Convention Center consisted of 100,000 square feet meeting and tradeshow space. Initially I was assigned to a resort property in Storm Lake Iowa to train and assist in ramp-up processes. After completing this project I was awarded the Holiday Inn/KCI Expo Center Director of Sales & Catering position. The newly opened (prototype) Holiday Inn was attached to an existing 100,000 square foot convention center. As an IHG Essay Winner in 2007 – I was awarded the appearance of the Holiday Inn #29 NASCAR. I utilized this opportunity to sponsor and direct a charity event for “Big Brothers and Big Sisters” with the Holiday Inn #29 NASCAR that resulted in raising $9,000 for the local chapter.
