Multisystemic Therapy Team TherapistPublic Sector Jan 2015 - Apr 2016Multisystemic Therapy (MST) supports young people aged 11-17 years who are presenting with severe challenging behaviours, including aggressive behaviour, absconding, non school attendance, substance misuse, offending. It is an:- Intensive and flexibly delivered;- Evidence-based and community-based intervention; and- Does what it takes to achieve meaningful change.Interventions are intensive and target change across the systems in which the young person is engaged to achieve change and improve outcomes for the young people and their families. To carry a small, complex caseload and work autonomously on referrals under the guidance of the Supervisor. Develop, implement and evaluate highly specialist plans and programmes of care for children, young people and their families, which will require regular adjustments. Undertake systemic assessment including individual psychological strengths/weaknesses, family functioning, (including family relationships and interaction patterns), school and community systems strengths/weakness and the detection of interactions between those systems. Integration of this information into a complex case conceptualization is required which will form the basis of a treatment plan. Select appropriate specialist therapeutic interventions (such as behaviour therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy and the pragmatic family therapies). Assess the strengths and needs of the family's larger social-ecological context. Undertake risk assessment and risk management of harm to self/others for individual clients and families and to provide advice to other professional colleagues.
