Research Agricultural Engineer with a wide-range of knowledge and experience in projects involved safety, quality, and sensory evaluation of agricultural commodities using x-rays irradiation, spectroscopy (UV-Vis-NIR), and imaging (multispectral, hyperspectral & fluorescence). Being part of the Tropical Crop and Commodity Protection Research Unit at the US Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center in Hilo, Hawaii, my research focuses on developing pre- and postharvest technologies to improve and protect U.S export markets for fresh tropical commodities.

Sensors and Instrumentation LabDeveloped methods for determining aflatoxin contamination and identifying the fungal infection using NIR spectroscopy, NIR hyperspectral imaging, multivariate statistical analysis, and quantitative image analysis. Worked with automatic sample handling system control using C/C++ and image acquisition system control using Java-based scripting language. Involved in projects related to plant genotyping and phenotyping in response to environmental changes. Developed multi-spectral fluorescence imaging system(s) for plant phenotyping and worked closely with plant biologists to formulate experimental plans.
