My name is Pei-Shan Liu. After graduating from middle school in Taiwan, I had the opportunity to study at Ames High School. I strengthened my English abilities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. I also learned about different cultures of other countries and learned to respect cultural diversity.At Iowa State University, I majored in Management. Since my mom was a secretary, I am passionate about business, and the variety courses of management got me more interested in it. In the US, people not only value individual work but also value how well you work in a team, and this was why I joined different kinds of school activities or clubs. Working on team projects and presentation helped me understand how to express my thoughts clearly and be open to different kinds of ideas. One of the roles I acted in a team was a listener, who was able to understand the needs and feelings of members. After classes, I also joined some leadership and public speaking training or programs and I enjoyed participating in clubs that could help to increase my business knowledge and develop my business skills.In 2016, after coming back to Taiwan, I have been working as a secretary at an international trading company. With my English abilities, my company finally becomes a foreign supplier’s agent in Taiwan. As a secretary, I not only need to understand and clearly express my boss’ thought but also need to put ourselves in our business partners’ position to know what they expect from us. Furthermore, I am responsible and enthusiastic about my work. Although there are full of challenges in this field, I believe my personality and willingness to learning new things will help me work on everything well.I believe my my English abilities, knowledge, characteristics and interpersonal communication skills will help your company achieve higher goals.
