Switch Power was founded to address the high growth CPU market with fast transient switching regulators using V2 technology. The company partnered with Cherry Semiconductor to deliver semiconductor products to market leaders such as Compaq, Intel, Apple, as well as most motherboard makers. V2 dominated the Vcore market in the early years of Pentium processors. These IC products were then incorporated into a series of DC/DC point-of-load modules sold into the communications industry. Switch Power was acquired by MMC, Wisconsin based module manufacturer, in the fall of 1999 who was then acquired by Bourns in 2002.
