I started the Row Like a Girl rowing classes during the pandemic to provide a space for middle school girls to safely socialize and develop their confidence and leadership skills through water sports. The small classes--no more than 7 per class-- give the girls opportunities to learn to row, kayak, and paddle board. I foster a supportive and encouraging environment that emphasizes celebrating successes, approaching failure with a learning mindset, and working as a team. As the ESN Project Coordinator, I continued my work as the Moving Forward Project Coordinator and I assisted with other ESN projects.- Created presentation materials used to promote and solicit funding for an economic development district and an advanced manufacturing incubation space- Assisted in the application process for an Economic Development Administration, Public Works and Economic Adjustment Assistance Program grant

As an AmeriCorps VISTA serving as the Project Coordinator for Moving Forward, my responsibilities included:- Serving as a liaison between Energy Systems Network, Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, and the 11 developer teams working on 40+ properties - Researching assistive smart technologies and developing a "unit-cross section" to display where the technologies could be incorporated - Meeting regularly with developer teams to coordinate their strategies- Keeping the partner organizations and developer teams apprised of the program's progress with regular summary emails- Identifying and contacting community resources that can assist in providing wrap-around services for residents- Facilitating partnerships with developer teams and identified community resources - Researching best-practices and opportunities for additional funding- Researching and writing the Moving Forward 2020 Innovation workshop pre-read, executive summary, and final report- Creating a goal tracking relational database- Adhering to the VISTA reporting requirements and submitting timely VISTA reports as required by the Corporation for National and Community Service

Steel City Rowing Club is a small, community-focused, not-for-profit that is dedicated to getting people of all ages enjoying the river. In my role as a coach, I taught groups of people ages 8-87 how to row and helped those interested in competing reach their highest potential. Additional duties included: managing operations for summer programs, developing stakeholder relationships, designing the website, recruiting members, and training staff.

During this experience I was part of an international team of student researchers. We used participatory planning methods (interviews and surveys) to gather data on vulnerable areas in the Indian city of Pune. This data was then used to develop sustainable development proposals and plans. These plans were given to community leaders and other stakeholders including government employees.

The Risk to Resilience Pilot program was designed to create direct partnerships between local, food-related, businesses and local farmers. My primary role was to maintain communication between grant participants and identify areas of overlapping product and business interests.

Chatham University’s Eden Hall Campus is being built from the ground up as a sustainable campus. The buildings, landscaping, and overall design utilize sustainable technologies. As the Eden Hall Campus Graduate Assistant I designed a tour of the campus that presented the sustainable systems in a short, informative, and accessible way.
