She has a rare form of Synesthesia where she visualizes flavor as color, pattern, texture and emotion. As an abstract expressionist with roots in the food and wine industry, Penelope’s passion lies at the intersection of art and taste; to express the essence of flavor onto canvas. With her unique ability to experience flavor, she taps into her formal art training as a creative means to communicate and brings taste to life as an immersive visual performance. Known for her "Art of Taste" events in Italy and in the US, she curates multi-sensory experiences to create live action paintings that interpret the palate from the palette, combining gastronomy and fine art into curated experiential exhibitions. Art of Taste.I see taste. When I paint, I taste flavors in the colors and when I mix colors, I taste flavors in the paint. My oil paints are like a spice rack; when I paint, it feels like I am cooking. When I taste, I imagine an array of spices and fresh ingredients at my fingertips and visualize nuances of color and texture that correlate. I see vivid color and texture in flavor and I paint it. This “mixing of the senses” is a rare form of synesthesia where I visualize flavor as color, pattern, texture and emotion. I create every painting live, as a visual performance, during events. These action paintings suspend moments in time, tell a story and evoke memory. I am merely a conduit; a visual voice to express the emotion of flavor onto canvas.

As the Art Curator behind Acumen Wine Gallery, Penelope aims to establish Napa Valley’s newest Contemporary Art Gallery in Downtown Napa as a destination for high end fine art and wine. In addition to exhibiting her own work, she curates works from mid-career artists who range in location from San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento and Napa. The gallery focuses on Contemporary Art in the realm of Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art and Contemporary Realism and transforming traditional art exhibitions into experiential events.Responsibilities: Creative Direction and Art Curation. Maintain impeccable visual aesthetics and hospitality during events. Work closely with external marketing agencies and the Director of Sales and Marketing to establish calendar, event goals and budget. Graphic design, write website copy and create social media content for event marketing materials.Maintain consistent and cohesive on-brand visual details throughout the execution process and event programming. Visually meticulous and highly detail oriented with keen aesthetic sensitivities: interior design acumen, lighting, room temperature, music style and volume, event flow and theme, and experiential marketing installations to maximize guest experience.Marketing: Collaborate with marketing team to create social media content.Graphic Design and copywriting for catalogues, flyers, art books, price lists, press releases, website and event graphics.Photography and videos of events, product lifestyle shots, and artwork for social media channels.Market research and outreach by regularly attending industry networking events and hosting industry groups and events.Remain on the forefront of community trends and maintain pulse on the food and wine industry scene, new openings, events and art culture.Imagine and execute art openings and events that push boundaries.Build and maintain relationships with collectors, industry professionals, influencers, investors, nonprofits and business owners.
