I began to realize that Chinese international contractors were not very familiar with collaborating with foreign commercial banks. Moreover, transmitting this knowledge required substantial practical experience, and effecting change was not something that could happen overnight.Therefore, on one hand, I spent time engaging with financial institutions both domestically and internationally, including banks, funds, export credit agencies, and private investors. On the other hand, I attempted to provide easier access to services for Chinese international engineering enterprises and financial institutions using a fintech model, leveraging intelligent systems. For instance, I coordinated a special project cooperation pool program between China Harbor and China Export Credit Insurance Corporation and used Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) to transform the guarantee process for overseas project financing into an intelligent service. The party seeking the service only needed to provide project boundary conditions to receive systematic guidance from the computer. The system would instruct them on what to do and how to improve project terms, allowing them to obtain guarantees or loans. Even if they had no knowledge of how to conduct investment and financing business, the system could help them identify the details to focus on and the key conditions to establish their project foundation.During this period, I engaged in numerous commercial experiments, including project financing, commercial loans, sovereign guarantee financing, structured financing, A/B loans, trade financing, and mezzanine loans. As a result, I participated in many multilateral forums andworkshops, accumulating experience and connections. After conducting rigorous market research, engaging with key local stakeholders,conducting on-site assessments of the local economic and social development, infrastructure conditions, and the fiscal capacity of the host country, I presented comprehensive EPC+F solutions for several potential business opportunities. This approach, offering both engineering and financing services, was more readily accepted by the government compared to competitors who only provided engineering services. As I anticipated, we secured contracts for these projects.Throughout this process, I made an effort to hire local employees rather than relying solely on Chinese labor, and I utilized numerous local material suppliers to replace imports. This strategy generated numerous employment opportunities and contributed to economic growth locally. This approach set me apart from my peers and allowed us to better integrate into the local community.While managing the business, I prioritized health, safety, and environmental concerns (HSE). For instance, I donated products to combat HIV, provided education on the subject to the local community, sponsored and formed a joint football team consisting of both locals and foreigners, participated in local leagues, donated food to orphanages, and offered assistance to employees facing health-related challenges.
