As the founder and Design Director of KL Pavilion Design Studio, Mr. Tan is in charge of the company’s and Pavilion Group's most ambitious retail expansion project comprising the Pavilion, Pavilion Expansion, Pavilion Suites, Royale Pavilion Hotel, Pavilion Banyan Tree Signatures Hotel & Residences, Fahrenheit 88 and the recent Pavilion Square development.Mr. Tan brings with him his vast expertise as Senior Design Architect at Skidmore Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) in New York. His tenure there from 1996 to 2001 saw his involvement in over 25 projects across the US, Middle East and Southeast Asia. Many of them are award winners, such as The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), New York Port Authority Bus Terminal mixed-use development in Times Square New York, The Random House HQ in New York City, One George Street in Singapore. With his valuable experience in the designing of large scale complex projects, in particular the design of Class A high rise commercial offices, mixed-use developments and airports, Mr. Tan was appointed the Lead Designer for the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur development project. He was tasked with the retail planning, urban design, architecture and interior design of the critically acclaimed project.
