My research activities can be summarized as: Participated in the development of a parallel in-house LES code FLOWAVE using MPI and FORTRAN. Invented a conservative filtering technique to remove the odd-even decoupling. Developed a fundamental and theoretical framework as well as a self-adaptive model to solve the long persistent ‘log-layer mismatch’ for high-Re flows. The wall-modeled LES with the new self-adaptive model has been successfully applied to channel flow and square duct flows. Future application of this techniques includes turbulent boundary layer flows and atmospheric boundary layer flows. -

Graduate ResearcherTsinghua University Sep 2003 - Jul 2006Beijing, ChinaI was involved in the university strategic alliance (USA) program of GE Aircraft Engines, with a focus on turbomachinery CFD. Under the program, I participated in the development and validation of a 3D parallel solver for turbomachinery unsteady flows. I was responsible for the parallelization of the code and the treatment of the rotor/stator boundary as well as the validation of the flow solver in combination of a set of RANS models, including k-omega, k-g, S-A and k-epsilon models. In addition, the unsteady loss mechanism in the compressor is examined in terms of irreversibility.
