Penny was a senior lawyer for the United States Judiciary, spending most of her career in the chambers of Judge Edmund A. Sargus, Jr., U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. She also worked with other judges and was formerly in private practice with Porter Wright Morris and Arthur, LLP, Columbus, Ohio. After two decades at the Court, she now litigates at Babin Law, LLC in the human trafficking department.Penny is involved with many nonprofit organizations. She is the President and board member of the Ohio Lawyers Assistance Program, a nonprofit dedicated to helping Ohio’s judges, attorneys, and law students obtain treatment for substance use disorders and mental health issues; a committee member of Restored Citizens Initiative helping federal prisoners reenter society; a board member of OpenDoor-Columbus assisting women reenter society from substance abuse disorder; Secretary and board member of Animal Protection Network working to protect and advocate on behalf of animals; a board member of Copper Horse Crusade, a nonprofit that sustainably saves slaughter bound horses, a mentor at her alma matter The Ohio State University College of Law; Treasurer of the Franklin County Horse Advisory Board; and a 4H leader for Young Riders.Penny lives at home with her husband, Strider and Astro (dogs), Jazz, Agent, Ed, Misty, Sheldon, Della, Koozie, and Romeo (horses). She loves running, skiing, equestrian sports, and time with her family.
