Recent changes to non-clinical claims have seen the introduction of the Claims Portal, which has resulted in a 30 day investigation period for Employee claims and 40 days for Public/ Visitor claims from receipt of the claim. In contrast the Claimant has up to 3 years in which to bring a claim. My work therefore requires me to be highly organised and deadline focused and to quickly assimilate complex information from a variety of sources to ensure that claims are evaluated in an efficient manner and the appropriate action taken. As part of this role I oversee the Health Records team pre-action disclosure correspondence to ensure that all queries are addressed quickly, appropriately and we are working within the legal framework to avoid cost sanctions. I also action disclosure of information requests, such as internal policies and incident reports where appropriate. I have experience of the inquest process including advising staff on the preparation of statements, liaising with the Coroner’s Office, and supporting staff throughout the process and in Court. I draft the quarterly reports which are disseminated throughout the Trust from Board level to departmental managers and am confident at presenting complex information clearly. I use my analytical skills to identify themes and trends and present these clearly with an action plan to address them where appropriate. I am confident communicating with people in person, over the phone and by email and find that a flexible approach to communication is necessary to ensure I receive the information required in the fastest time. I assisted with drafting the business plans and project managed the development and implementation of the action plans to meet the business plan objectives for each department. I developed a Gantt chart to ensure key project developments occurred in the appropriate time frame and liaised closely with our departments throughout the implementation to ensure they understood the changes that were occurring and were supported.Following the publication of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry Report, I researched new initiatives and developed a draft implementation plan for the recommendations we did not have in place. I managed the redesign and updating of the risk register to assign relevant actions to task groups. I also assisted in identifying new business opportunities and income generation schemes. I managed the tendering process, following and understanding national and local initiatives to predict how these would affect our business and implement the changes required to comply with these.Alongside this, I undertook independent projects on behalf of the Network Director. For example, I presented a written report demonstrating our compliance and implementation of the ‘Friends and Family Test’ and undertook a themed analysis of our serious incidents over a set period for presentation and discussion at the Governance meeting. I have a strong customer focus and ensure that all work I produce is accurate and of good quality.I assisted the Performance team in preparing for their Quarterly report and I was able to use my Excel knowledge to simplify the way in which they collated data, saving the team time in producing their report. I regularly helped other members of staff with a variety of tasks and found that my proficient computer skills greatly assisted me with this. Show less -

This was a varied role as I continued to support other areas of the business, which I had supported as part of my agency role, alongside assisting with the procurement of substance misuse services. It was also an interesting time to be working for LDAAT as they were part of a Primary Care Trust whose responsibilities were transferred to the local County Council on the introduction of the Clinical Commissioning Groups. For the recommissioning project my duties included providing full support to the procurement process, ensuring guidelines and timeframes were adhered to, arranging stakeholder and bidder events and performing administrative tasks such as diary management and coordinating, arranging and minuting meetings. I developed the project initiation documents and designed a Gantt chart to ensure a complete timeline of the project was available and remained in contact with our key stakeholders to ensure they felt informed and supported.I was also tasked with assisting the prison healthcare contract transition. In this role I drew on my legal training to complete tasks including; drafting extension letters, drafting novation agreements and answering contract queries. I also minuted the prison healthcare meetings and gained good insight into the complexities of managing healthcare within our justice system.Alongside this I was involved in assisting co-ordination of the ‘substance misuse contracts’ transition from NHS Central Lancashire to Lancashire County Council. I provided support to our finance team at year end through chasing invoices and preparing them for payment and I assisted the communications department with website and social media management. I worked on two cases in a team of three. The first was a complex case concerning unfair bank charges. Our client had been corresponding with the bank unsuccessfully and had been refused help by a law firm. We researched her case and took up negotiations with the bank resulting in an agreeable settlement for our client. The second case involved an unfair dismissal with elements of discrimination. We did not follow up the discrimination part of the claim because we determined that there was not enough evidence to substantiate it. We did take on the unfair dismissal claim and began by contacting the company involved to attempt to mediate the situation. They did not respond and as the period in which we could bring a claim was close to expiry, we issued proceedings at the employment tribunal. We were then contacted by the company and were again able to negotiate a suitable settlement for our client. Show less
