Newly employed as an Early Years Practitioner in Nursery, my role has involved assisting with the running of the classroom alongside the Nursery Leader. I am a family group leader for the ‘Dinosaurs’ group. This involves carrying out planned interventions in areas of learning, such as Literacy and Mathematics, with this group of children and feeding back to Nursery Leader regarding progress and areas in which certain children may need support. A huge part of being successful in this role has of course been developing positive relationships with the children, which in turn supports them in being confident and happy learners who feel able to approach the adults within their setting in each of their areas of learning.I am also responsible for teaching Makaton signing to this family group, teaching a new sign to the children on a weekly basis and regularly reflecting on this throughout the day to confirm that they are able to confidently present what they have learned. I am also responsible for keeping records of learning across the prime and specific areas of the EYFS Framework, keeping records within the classroom and also via the ‘Tapestry’ application, which also aides in maintaining positive relationships between the school and children’s families.From September 2022, I will be based in Year 1 and will have responsibility for a variety of interventions, as well as supporting an ECT in the running of the classroom.

Continuing to work based in the school I’ve worked with via agency. This has given me the opportunity to hone my skills and experience working across EYFS and Key Stage 1. Each day is a pleasure.

Initially employed as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant. The skills I developed during my PGCE were recognised and I was instead made a classroom TA. This role involves teaching varying group sizes, including classroom cover. I got the opportunity to teach the Letters & Sounds (Phonics scheme), deliver activities from White Rose Maths as well as covering Charanga (Music scheme), Expressive Art & Design and Jigsaw (PSHE). I was trained in NELI (Nuffield Early Language Intervention) and responsible for keeping records across a wide array of subjects. I was also a Fine Motor lead in Reception and was given the responsibility to plan and resource relevant activities for this.

Initially hired as a Christmas Temp, my duties involved: stock replenishment, assisting customers and maintaining the appearance and housekeeping within the store. On finishing this job, I was very quickly contacted afterwards to become a permanent member of the team, due to my hard work and enthusiasm. My responsibilities include: operating tills, assisting in organising a web order service, stock replenishment, steaming stock, answering phone calls, managing fitting rooms and assisting within bra fittings, visual merchandising (adjustment to floor plans and shop windows), helping customers, housekeeping and working with a busy team to achieve weekly targets for the store.

My responsibilities included: preparing a range of hot and cold foods, supervising food cooking within the kitchen, being responsible for PR and promotion of the business including responsibility for the updating of and maintaining company social media accounts, maintaining a hygienic environment within the kitchen and front of deli, delivering food to nearby local businesses, operating tills and providing a friendly service to many regular locals. I left this role in order to pursue an opportunity at Birmingham Metropolitan College.

Working over Christmas, my job involved: assisting customers, maintenance of store displays, stock replenishment, meeting targets in sales and working with the team to present the store in a positive way by providing a friendly and helpful service.

As part of an extremely busy team, I was required to work quickly and efficiently to satisfy high levels of customer service. Duties required: operating tills, clearing and replenishing stock and providing a high quality of customer service.
