Safety Specialist
CurrentCoordinate with Safety Manager and train new drivers on DTS LTL freight policies and procedures. Will coordinate with re-training to connect driver performance errors and understanding of all trip planning, manifests, warehouse loading procedures, DVIR, and log management. Will use discretion and independent judgment when developing new policies and procedures. Make sure company goals are met for company growth. Achieve company's goals regarding accidents by handling them in house with self insured retention. Provide counseling and assist with discipline in all DOT compliance issues to include documentation of verbal reprimands, written documentation, corrective action letters, and termination letters. Assisting in the development of driver recognition programs. Working with insurance carrier on all liability losses. Responsible to monitor the company's Safestat score and Saferys, reporting to the management group the company's scores. Responsible for updating and auditing information as required by Federal Agencies. Responsible for being the first point of contact for all accidents (24/7), reporting to carrier when necessary. Responsible for monitoring computer generated reports, including over speeds, hard breaking, hours of service, time management issues, MPG. Work towards constant improvement. Coordinate with other managers organizing and conducting monthly safety meetings with the drivers. Responsible for auditing all driver's logs monthly. Generate violation reports for drivers. Maintain logs and reports for DOT inspections.Responsible for new hire qualifications, pre-employment checks, pre-hire drug test.
