Educating persons eligible for Medicare, and their caregivers, via the Understanding Medicare presentations. The presentations address the rules for Medicare enrollment and the annual enrollment. The presentation addresses Medicare fraud prevention and identifies the types of fraud that can occur.As a trained SHIP counselor, I assist Medicare eligible beneficiaries with enrollment questions and issues for Medicare, Medigap, Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug benefits. SHIP counselors also identify limited income beneficiaries and help beneficiaries seek assistance for subsidies such as Medicaid enrollment, Part B premium, and prescription drug extra help. During the tax season, I help qualified older adults apply for the Arizona property tax credit.

The role of a Benefits Enrollment Center (BEC) Benefits Specialist is to develop and implement the program per the grant requirements. The grant requires PCOA to identify limited income Medicare Beneficiaries in Pima County and assist these individuals with enrollment in programs designed to financially help them pay for services such as Medicare co-pays and coinsurance, Part B premium, Part D premium/copays/coinsurance, purchase food, and pay for utilities and home energy improvements. In addition to these main objectives, our goal is to identify other means tested programs for which Medicare Beneficiaries qualify and assist with enrollment in the programs. This includes but is not limited to city utilities such as water and trash collection, phone service, and transportation.

Coordinate the Wright Flight program with teachers. This includes holding teacher orientations, managing the fly day schedule, coordinating curriculum delivery, and arranging classroom support.

Wright Flight is a non profit organization dedicated to helping kids reach new heights. Their mission is to help kids learn the value of hard work and deliberate goal setting, and to receive the reward for achieving both. The reward is attend fly day to "pilot" a small plane. The agenda during flight is based on which curriculum the child has completed.Schools in the Tucson area, and in several out of state chapters, sponsor and promote the Wright Flight program. Teachers facilitate the curriculum within their school. The office administrator works directly with the teachers to ensure they have the materials to teach the course and coordinate the schedule for their students fly day. The fly days start in October. The last fly day is the end of May. Wright Flight depends on volunteers to run the actual fly day - from check in to the actual flight. Part of the administration responsibilities includes securing the ground volunteers that manage the check in, picture/certificate printing, dispatch, escorts, merchandise, and concessions. Additional responsibilities include general office management.
