Raja Yoga “A complete path of Purification and Awakening”This is an interactive class geared towards full personal transformation. We will cover and discuss Raja Yoga philosophy, perform asana and pranayama to purify and awaken the different bodies, study corresponding anatomical and physiological implications as per yogic science, and practice many forms of meditation.Raja Yoga is one of the four main traditional branches of Yoga. Raja Yoga in itself is a complete path of self transformation for a sincere and a diligent student. The primary text of Raja Yoga is the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and the main goal is mastery over our mind, with a final achievement of samadhi (Blissful meditation). “Raja” literally means “King” and thus Raja Yoga is considered a royal and secret yogic path to attaining a blissful uninterrupted meditative state. Asana practice (physical yoga postures), which has heavily saturated the western market, is only the fourth limb of the eight limbs of Yoga (Ashtanga). As Raja yoga is more than the asana practices, this class aspires to introduce all 8 limbs of Yoga and therefore promote an investment into a deeper yoga practice, generating a much higher interest rate than what we receive by only performing asanas. A path of self-transformation is a dance between purification, awakening and maintaining the purified state.
