In my role as VP I connect research, practice and policy in driving the adoption of innovative and effective programs for young children in California. This entails the (re)design of Kidango's entire data ecosystem, providing leadership on data strategy and governance, and providing insight into program performance through internal analytics as well as partnerships with external researchers and consultants.Some of the most significant areas of my work include:- Leadership on design and implementation of comprehensive data system;- Data governance leadership;- Collaboration with team members as well as external researchers to design and conduct large and small scale program evaluations that affect decisions concerning early care and education;- Development of, and leadership on, surveys and qualitative/quantitative data collection;- Writing reports for policymakers and other stakeholders, and presenting study findings to relevant audiences;- Heading the creation of a comprehensive public policy strategy to help push for significant change in California’s ECE landscape;- Leading analysis of legislative proposals that would be relevant to Kidango, making recommendations on taking a support or oppose position;- Identifying opportunities for influencing public policy that will benefit families and children;- Drafting legislative language for bills sponsored by Kidango;- Testifying on bills supported by Kidango.

Kidango is the Bay Area's largest provider of early childhood services, including preschool, early intervention and mental health. As the Grants & Development Manager, I was responsible for both pre-award activities (applications) as well as post-award management and compliance for a broad range of government and private foundation contracts and grants (totaling approx. $30m). Key stakeholders I worked with include the Department of Education (Federal and CA), local governments (County and City), and diverse agencies and foundations such as First 5, YMCA, East Bay Community Foundation and Kaiser Permanente.Further responsibilities and accomplishments included:- Project manager for diverse applications requiring coordination of several senior program staff members, coordinating and overseeing activities to collaboratively submit competitive proposals based on innovative programs;- Final responsibility for submission of grant proposals and contract bids as well as post-award reporting;- Designed and implemented an organization-wide contract tracking and management system;- In collaboration with Kidango's CEO, creation of a fundraising plan, including government, foundation and private donor funding;- Member of various executive committees to drive strategic growth;- When needed, I have taken the lead on (re)negotiation of service contracts for services provided to Kidango, such as IT, legal representation and external consulting;- Represented the agency at community events, public hearings and industry conferences.

My PhD research focuses on the ways in which economic goals and normative convictions are fused or disconnected in foreign policy, with a focus on collaborations between government and non-profit actors in developing countries. Methodologies applied include process tracing, interviews, economic modeling and causal inference.I have also taught a number of weekly classes to undergraduate students. This has involved planning and execution of classes, mentoring and advising students, and marking all coursework.

I coordinated 5 senior researchers, managed the budget and conducted literature research (best practice study) for an award-winning research project on health care reform in the US and Europe.
