Yes, I loved living on Maui (I knew you were going to ask!) where I was responsible for assisting meeting planners & event planners when planning and booking incentives, meetings, seminars, weddings, and events on the beautiful island of Maui and at the Grand Wailea, a Waldorf Astoria Resort. I've since moved to the Colorado Rockies, but I may slip an "aloha" or "mahalo" into our conversation!
Jackson Hole and the Tetons will always have a part of my heart and I loved selling the destination and resort. At this hotel, I made the leap from Senior Sales Manager to Assistant Director of Sales to Director of Sales & Marketing. I'll always be grateful to Mr. Serge Leoni for giving me that opportunity. Located across the street from Carnegie Hall, the 1, 200-room Omni Park Central Hotel hosted a wide variety of group business and I specialized in Corporate and Entertainment accounts that were seeking a mid-town hotel with friendly service. Omni Park Central featured the famous Jackie Gleason Suite.
At this job, I literally kept my skis in my office -- the perfect site tour included a tour of the mountain on skis, lunch on the patio next to Gore Creek and discussing how to bring bring corporate, incentive, association and seminar accounts to Vail. The hotel has been renovated and renamed; it will always be the Vail Cascade Club to me.
I've often told the story about how I went for a job interview to work in HR and was delighted to be interviewed in the Grand Lobby during Tea Time. The Director of HR offered me tea sandwiches and tiny pastries while we listened to melodies played on a harp. How could I not accept their offer!?!?
