Dr. Per Fröjdh, Vice President International Standards at Ericsson, has more than thirty years of experience in research and innovation. He received his MSc (Engineering Physics) and PhD (Theoretical Physics) degrees after studies at Chalmers University in Göteborg, Sweden, and at Imperial College in London, UK. Subsequent to postdoctoral appointments in Seattle and Copenhagen he accepted a faculty position at Stockholm University before joining Ericsson as Manager of Video Research and Standardization. He has contributed to world-leading standards for video compression, such as AVC/H.264 and HEVC/H.265 in MPEG and ITU, and been recognized with two Emmy Awards for his contributions to the DASH streaming format and the ISO (MP4) file format. He has been Board Director, Treasurer and Promotions Chair of the DASH Industry Forum, served on the Advisory Committee for W3C, and been the Editor of 15 standards in MPEG, ITU, 3GPP and IETF. He currently leads Ericsson’s overall engagement in the United Nations' International Telecommunication Union, where he is Vice-Chair of the Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group (TSAG). He is the Multimedia Chair at the Swedish Institute for Standards (SIS), Vice President of the Media Coding Industry Forum (MC-IF) and Steering Board Member of the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) Project.
