Below I have so far only shared my professional journey by my CV. I now turn to sum up my experiences so far from many years of developing the railways, from its basic technologies to its operation, economics and political strategies. More efficient operation has always been my focus. Based on my experience, I would highlight two issues for the future; the structural Swiss concept of Bahn2000 and digitalization of the operation:To me “Bahn2000” is a general concept for building and operating an attractive public transport system based on regular trains operating in a network and timed at the nodes for quick transfers. Coordinate traffic and infrastructure by the Bahn2000 concept into an efficient railway system!I have gradually found that digitalization is the way forward to meet many of the challenges of the railways. It stands clear to me that mathematical modeling and optimization, far from more traditional railroading, brings outstanding possibilities to improve traffic operation, sustainability, attractiveness and to reduce costs. Mathematics together with modern IT is a low cost and rapid way forward. Currently, no other technology has similar potential to create large and sustainable improvements of train operations, as well as in a short timeframe. Among other things this will make it possible to get more out of the legacy railway as well as its new investments!

Responsible for development and global implementations of Transrail's CATO product. CATO is top ranking solution for efficient driving of trains, that brings increased punctuality and infrastructure traffic capacity as well as reduced energy consumption, wear and operative costs. The mathematics of CATO provides outstanding results in any train operation from metros to high speed passenger and heavy haul freight services. Responsibility and participation in various strategic projects and technical cooperation, such as:- SJ R&D strategies and planning- Member of the ERRI (European Rail Research Institute) Supervisory Board- Representative of SJ in the UIC (International Union of Railways) Committee on Research and Development- SJ participant in the UIC Traction and Rolling Stock Committee- Chairman of the Traction and Rolling Stock Secretariat of the Nordic railways (DSB, NSB, SJ, VR)- Project manager of the project "Cargo System 2000"

Responsibility for the technical systems of SJ rolling stock, including acquisition and refurbishing of SJ rolling stock; locomotives, multiple units, passenger coaches, freight wagons.- Manager of the project program "Regional Trains" on behalf of the Swedish Transport Research Board 1988-1990)- Project manager for the reorganisation of the SJ engineering department

Istanbul Light Rapid Transit System, was ASEA's first turn key project (a 25 km LRT-line) carried out in a consortium with the civil works contractor Yapi Merkezi (Turkey).

Responsibility for development, tenders and delivery projects considering electrical systems (main circuits, auxiliary systems, control systems) of railway vehicles and railway power supply stations.

- Project manager for the development of ASEAs first prototype (5 MW) locomotive with three-phase induction motor drives.- Development and investigations regarding mechanical systems of railway vehicles, e.g. development of the vehicle tilting system used on the Swedish X2000 high-speed train.
