Per Lund is currently Senior Specialist at the Power Plant Engineering Department of Vestas Wind Systems. He earned his M.S. and industrial Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 1983 and 1985 respectively. He was previously working as Chief Engineer at the Grid Planning Department of Energinet, the national Danish TSO. In addition to his deep involvement in most major Smart Grid activities of Energinet, he was heavily involved in the continuing development of a Phasor Measurement Unit and Wide Area Monitoring System based Dynamic Security Assessment system for Energinet. Per Lund was chief architect and technical responsible for the Cell Controller Pilot Project conducted by Energinet.From his previous employment in the Planning Department of the former Danish Electricity Consortium Elsam A/S and later as Senior Electrical Engineer in the Danish consulting company Techwise (also known as Danish Power Consult), Per Lund has a general background in power system planning in large utility-owned systems. He has gained comprehensive international experience in developing and utilizing computer systems for steady state and transient stability analyses used in the design and planning of power systems ranging from regional power pools to wind-diesel systems on small islands.Per Lund has developed the SETPOS program system – a specialised computer program optimum in respect of analysing fast electromechanical transients in a wide range of electrical power plant systems. Since 1986, he has been responsible for all R&D projects concerning further development in the SETPOS program system. The program was extensively used by the Western Danish Power Pool in the period 1986-2000.
