Active CEO at Sätila of Sweden, retail and production. Sätila of Sweden was founded in 1896 in the village of the same name deep in the Västergötland countryside. Since that day we have designed, knitted and delivered hats worldwide. Our story started with a man named Johannes Nilsson who bought the machine parts needed to construct the very first knitting machines. He shipped them by steam boat from the town of Fjärås to Sätila, from where horse-drawn wagons transported the parts further by road. Back then, you bought the parts separately and assembled everything at the knitting factory.The hat has been our main product since the 1970s. Ever since alpine skier Ingemar Stenmark got Sweden to hold its collective breath during the skiing World Cup titles wearing one of our hats. This really put the brand on the map, as the original hat was knitted at the factory in Sätila. At around the same time, the company changed its name from Nilssons Trikåfabrik to Sätila of Sweden.
