In my role as Software Engineering Director, I effectively implemented an Agile/Scrum processes for software engineering, establishing a robust framework and process to ensure a dependable development cycle and product delivery. My responsibilities spanned software engineering management across both the Gulf Breeze and Alpharetta, GA offices. This included resource forecasting and management, hiring and terminations, monitoring engineering and team health, overseeing bids and proposals, facilitating cross-departmental communications, budgets, bid and proposals, handling issue escalation, crafting delivery plans, and setting clear delivery expectations.

As the Director of Software Engineering at AppRiver / Zix, I oversaw the productivity of over 100 developers across multiple locations, leading more than 13 Agile Software Engineering teams in the development of a suite of products within a cloud SaaS environment. My purview extended to offices in Gulf Breeze and Atlanta, as well as remote developers and contractors worldwide. With the support of three reporting managers, I managed team deliveries, ensured team and process health, conducted resource forecasting, handled hiring and terminations, managed department budgets, optimized team composition, fostered team interactions and cross-team collaborations, facilitated cross-departmental collaborations, and resolved productivity bottlenecks. The software engineering managers assisted in delegating individual developer management responsibilities.

Upon promotion to the Associate Director position from Software Engineering Manager, my responsibilities expanded to encompass all previous duties, with the additional task of overseeing the Atlanta office in addition to the Gulf Breeze location. The Atlanta office comprised four software engineering teams, comprising approximately 15 onsite developers.

Upon my promotion from Software Engineering Lead to Software Engineering Manager, my role transitioned from daily coding tasks to overseeing a group of teams in the Gulf Breeze office. My primary focus shifted towards ensuring these teams were unimpeded in their progress and were advancing as expected.

As a software engineer at AppRiver, my role encompassed various responsibilities including software development, software design, code check-ins, code reviews, production delivery, testing, and providing estimates. Transitioning from a software engineer to a lead software engineer, I assumed leadership of the team responsible for the customer portal product.

In my role as Director of Software Engineering, my primary responsibility was to oversee the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) product and all its feature development. This encompassed various tasks such as design, architecture, coding, leading and directing a team of developers dedicated to the product, feature design, resource planning, providing estimates, planning delivery schedules, and facilitating cross-department communications.

As the person in charge of all software development at CAS, I oversaw the resale of a Software Accounting suite and spearheaded the creation of tailored solutions for this product. Solutions involved Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Management, Fixed Asset Management and Manufacturing.
