Helping researchers use data in their research by building infrastructure, sharing my knowledge, and being a proponent for data that is As Open As Possible, As Closed as Necessary. No method is too advanced or too simple — it all depends on the data, the task, the researcher and their research question, competencies and end goal. I primarily work in R, Python, and the Wolfram Langauge, sometimes on a distributed Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark cluster og other HPC facilities, but always with a focus on the best tool for a given task.

Project LeadDeic National Cultural Heritage Cluster, Royal Danish Library Aug 2015 - Dec 2021AarhusDeIC (Danish e-Infrastructure Cooperation) has been charged with spreading High-Performance Computing (HPC) to new research areas, such as the humanities and social science areas. In order to respond to this, DeIC and the Royal Danish Library have agreed to establish the DeIC National Cultural Heritage Cluster, Royal Danish Library. The cultural heritage cluster applies state-of-the-art technologies within data science, and for the first time ever facilitates quantitative research projects on the digital Danish cultural heritage – e.g. radio and TV programmes, websites and historical newspapers. In recent years, the Royal Danish Library (former named the State and University Library) has participated in national and international research and research infrastructure projects based on Danish digital cultural heritage. The library has expanded both knowledge and competences about what it takes to offer, for instance, data mining – the search for structures and patterns in large data sets.More information at http://en.statsbiblioteket.dk/kulturarvscluster.

SCAPE will enhance the state of the art of digital preservation in three ways: by developing infrastructure and tools for scalable preservation actions; by providing a framework for automated, quality-assured preservation workflows and by integrating these components with a policy-based preservation planning and watch system. These concrete project results will be validated within three large-scale Testbeds from diverse application areas.
