In only five short years, this formerschool teacher and football coach has transformed his real estate brokerage company DreamSpots Leasing from a one-office organization employing six people into three locations with 42employees currently serving the Chicago area.“I used to work for a company that concentrated on the more affluent neighborhoods on theNorth side, explains Carter. And I wanted to bring that same quality of service to urbanChicago. The black community didn’t have that type of service so I decided to do somethingabout it.”A star linebacker at Chicago Vocational High School, he played collegiate football at North ParkUniversity and Northern Illinois University after graduation. As fate would have it, he injured hisknee during his junior year in college so Perdure had to defer his dreams of playing in the NFL.His plans of earning a college education weren’t deferred, For the next eight years, Carter taught physical education and coached football.But even though his career in education was rewarding, he wanted more. Some friendsintroduced him to real estate so he started buying houses at a cheap rate and selling them for aprofit. The money was great during that time Carter stated. “Then, the housing market crashed. In the interim, he got introduced to apartment leasing, so heopened a free apartment finder service. Now a company man, Carter works for the people of Chicago who need him the most.
