About Katherine Perez
I am driven by my passion to help my community. For this reason, I earned a degree in Women's Studies at the University of Florida and am currently open to remote work! I plan to pursue a Master’s in Public Health and I am especially interested in eliminating health disparities for marginalized and underinsured communities. I hope to use an intersectional lens when furthering my participation in the public health field to serve communities in a culturally competent way. One of my most impactful experiences has been interning at a community health clinic, Clinica Esperanza/Hope Clinic in Providence, Rhode Island, in the summer of 2020. I worked alongside health providers and public health professionals to provide free primary care services to the uninsured and largely undocumented population in the area. This opportunity sparked my passion for public health and led to my research internship at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention through Project Imhotep. During this internship, I created my own health equity research project and collaborated with senior epidemiologists, public health scientists, and graduate fellows, to create a manuscript, poster, and video presentation to present at the CDC CUPS Conference and the Morehouse College Poster Presentation. In the future, I hope to work in an academic research and community health setting to address the barriers to health care and health disparities that exist for underrepresented communities and find innovative ways to improve in these areas.
Listed skills include Customer Service, Spanish, Community Outreach, Online Research, and 4 others.
